Truck Treks: Foo Truck

It was raining at 11am on the Friday of Fall Break and my friend and I couldn’t find the food truck we had planned to visit. While checking up on the other food trucks parked on 35th and Market, only one successfully caught our eyes: the very colorful Foo Truck.

It’s a good thing Foo Truck turned out to be our alternative because their Foowiches were absolutely delicious!  What’s a Foowich?  Think Asian flavors in a burrito without the beans: Vietnamese-inspired Lemongrass Chicken, or garlic-ginger-soy-sauce Braised Meatballs packed in a tortilla wrap with rice and vegetables.

And if you’re vegetarian or decide you don’t want to go the meat route, there are still plenty of options!  Grab a Grilled Tofu Foowich or the Green Curry Quinoa Medley.  No matter what you get, there’s plenty of it to keep you satisfied.

The owner of the truck admitted they initially started with bread to create actual sandwiches, but they discovered how much easier it was to maintain the truck and handle orders with wraps instead!  And thank goodness for that because not only are they now known for such a unique twist, but the way the rice and other components fit and taste so nicely together gives their menu that much more of an interesting Asian ‘Foo’ flair.

Recommendations?  The customer in front of me didn’t hesitate to shout out ‘the Braised Meatball Foowich is the best!’.

The guys running the truck have been here for two years now and continue to gain popularity, changing up the menu and generating specials.  If you’re feeling sick, walk towards the Student Health Center and then take a right to the blue truck – it will cure you.
