Celebrate World Nutella Day with These 2 Recipes

We all know that Nutella doesn’t really need anything other than a spoon, but in honor of World Nutella Day, here are two ways to bring your Nutella consumption to the next level.

  1. Nutella Cake Roll10351894_10204332392805169_8006312901333345076_n

Nutella cake roll

5 eggs

100g flour

140 g sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

10 g honey

Nutella

Begin by separating the yolks and the whites of the eggs into separate bowls. Beat the yolks with 90 grams of the sugar, honey and vanilla until you form a foamy light yellow cream.  Whip the egg whites into soft peaks with the rest of the sugar.  Fold the egg white mixture into the yolk mixture, then sift in the flour. Delicately mix until homogenous, trying to deflate it as little as possible.

Preheat the oven to 425 F.  Spread the batter on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper until it is about 1cm thick.  Bake for 6-7 minutes.

Immediately take the cake with its parchment paper and put it on a flat surface. Sprinkle the cake with sugar and cover it tightly with plastic wrap. This step keeps the moisture in as the cake cools so that it can be rolled without cracking.

When the cake has cooled, remove the plastic wrap and spread it with plenty of nutella, leaving about 2cm of margin.  Delicately roll the cake, wrap it in parchment paper and refrigerate it for about 20 min.  Remove and (maybe sprinkle with powdered sugar) serve!

2. Nutella Bacio Cookies

Nutella Bacio Cookies

100g almond flour (ground almonds)

100 g flour

80 g sugar

100 g butter

20 g cocoa powder

1 tsp vanilla extract

nutella

Mix the almond flour, sugar, softened butter cut into cubes, flour, cocoa powder, and vanilla until you get a rough dough.  Form it into a flattened circle and wrap it in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for about 2 hours.

Remove it from the fridge and roll it into little balls. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and put them back in the refrigerator for another 30 minutes. Bake them in a preheated oven at 315 F for 20 minutes.

Once they are cooled, spread them with nutella and pair them up to make little sandwiches. Enjoy!
