Opa! It’s Time for Brunch

Brunch is always a good idea…there’s nothing like rolling out of bed on a Sunday morning with visions of pancakes and eggs dancing in your head, particularly if they’re served on antique blue and white plates in the modern Greek restaurant Opa.

Tucked on a bustling side street of 13th and Sansom, Opa is a hidden Mediterranean gem of a restaurant. The interior integrates stone and wire wall art in a clean, trendy design that allows you to instantly escape the bustle of the city. When we heard they were launching brunch service, we had to head in for a taste!

Since no brunch is complete without both sweet & savory components, we began with the Greek Omelet: fluffy eggs packed with pastourma (seasoned, air-dried cured beef), arugula, and metsovone cheese (a hard, naturally smoked cow’s milk cheese). Paired with a kale salad topped with onions, feta, and toasted walnuts, the plate was a modern twist on a traditional, healthy egg dish.

If sweet brunch dishes are more up your alley, the Nutella Banana pancakes are NOT to be missed! Fluffy sand dollar pancakes topped with caramelized bananas, powdered sugar, and a Nutella-caramel sauce, each bite is a little slice of heaven!

So, when you need to step out of the “Penn bubble,” head to Opa to be greeted with Greek hospitality, a taste of the Mediterranean and a lovely dining experience!
