Restaurant Week: Capital Grille

Hello foodies!

My name is Justin Yue and this past Monday, I went to Capital Grille with several of my hallmates for Restaurant Week. I think $35 for a Capital Grille dinner is an awesome deal, but my hall also subsidized a portion of the costs, so we ended up only paying $15 for the meal! What a snag.

As Harrison College House fellow, Mr. Nicola M. Gentili, said the restaurant is a perfect place for working men and women. Everyone at the restaurant was well-dressed and in business casual or smart casual attire.

The Restaurant Week dinner was a three-course meal, served with a bowl of assorted breads for the table in the beginning as well.

Appetizer:

For my appetizer, I had the clam chowder, which came with crackers on the side. The clam chowder was creamy and had pieces of seafood and potatoes inside. I wouldn’t say that it was out of this world amazing, but it was still pretty good.

Main Course:

I chose the 8 oz. Filet Mignon for my main course. The dish only came with one slice of meat, but the waiter also gave our table mashed potatoes and green beans with onions and cherry tomatoes to share. The Filet Mignon, which I ordered medium rare, was incredibly tender. I usually don’t like eating the charred areas of the meat, but to my surprise, they didn’t taste burnt at all! Instead, they were slightly salty and had a deliciously pungent flavor to them. The Filet Mignon was absolutely delicious. The mashed potatoes were buttery and thick, too. Yum, yum, yum!

Dessert:

For dessert, I ordered the Flourless Espresso Chocolate Cake. The cake had a much more chocolate-y consistency than what I expected, but the raspberries paired well with it.

For those of you who have the opportunity to go to Restaurant Week, I say go for it! Grab some friends and go explore the Philly food scene! You will not regret it.
