Hungry for dinner but too busy to throw together a healthy, home-cooked meal? We’ve all been there, and now the guys at Herban Quality Eats are finally doing something about it.

Recently founded by two Wharton MBA grads, Herban caters to diners looking for all the comforts and health benefits of a home-cooked meal with all the benefits of quick delivery. Their menu focuses on nutrient rich foods prepared with natural ingredients and an eye for flavor. With an online ordering service that let’s you customize your plate and have it delivered within minutes, plus a brick-and-mortar restaurant coming this summer, we think they’re off to a good start.

So put down your Turkey Tom and listen up–your late night dinner options just got way better.

Here’s how it works: First you login to Herban’s website or give them a phone call. Then you choose your base, protein, two sides, and one of three flavorful sauces to customize your meal. Hit “send” and dinner will be at your door within minutes.

Fast? Yes. Delicious? Absolutely.

Curious about how it tastes? So were we– so we sampled some of Herban’s most popular dishes at our last board meeting.

Fun fact: our editor-in-chief can give inspirational speeches while simultaneously inhaling sweet potatoes.

Himalayan Red Rice: Topped with fresh herbs and chewier than brown rice, this base was tastier than any regular rice bowl (sorry, Chipotle). Maybe it was the off-beat color or the unique texture, but I can’t remember the last time I was this excited about eating rice.

Tuscan Kale: Feeling trendy? We recommend saving the $150 you’re about to spend on that new Patagonia jacket and ordering this hip vegetable instead. It’s dressed simply in lemon juice and a perfect partner for the grilled chicken.

Sweet Potato Mash: Who doesn’t like sweet potatoes? Fools. That’s who. Herban mixes their with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and a dash of coconut milk that gives the side a lingering tropical taste.

Brussels Slaw: Crunchy, sweet, and packed with freshly cut oranges and apples, this side dish tastes far less virtuous than it seems. Yup, we went back for seconds.

Bean Balls: Yup, they look weird, but these thick puffs of white beans, chickpeas, and potatoes blew us away. They’re baked until slightly crisp on the outside and seasoned with a special blend of herbs and spices (we guess coriander and cumin).

Editor note: I’m no vegetarian, but this was probably my favorite part of the meal… I was genuinely upset when the last one disappeared.

Chicken: This is the most popular protein Herban offers, and we can see why. The chicken is soaked in a jerk marinade and grilled to order. Spicy? Not so much. But delicious nonetheless.

Walnut Coriander Sauce: Each container of this sauce should come attached to an IV line just to save me some time. Made of freshly ground walnuts, bright cilantro, and extra virgin olive oil, it’s cool, refreshing, and in the words of one of Herban’s founders, “pretty DAMN good”.

Herbed Tomato Sauce: This sauce was zesty, slightly sweet, and clearly a big hit based on the empty container at the end of the night. I loved it drizzled over the smoky chicken.

Herban Hot Sauce: Hotness level? Maybe a two out of ten. If you’re looking for spice then you’ll be sorely disappointed, but the sauce was flavorful nonetheless.
