Spring sprung and too soon after, finals did too. But the sun still beckons, so drop your textbooks for a hot second and channel my favorite mantra: treat yo’ self.

Directions:

1. Stand up and exit your musty prison cell.
2. Walk to the elevators. Press the button for the 1st floor (even though the ground floor button has a star on it – we’ve all made that mistake).
3. Open your bag for .0000001 seconds so that the guards can ensure you’re not robbing Van Pelt of any books. Exit.
Walk to 38th, between Walnut and Sansom.
4. Find the Sugar Philly truck. It’s cheerfully decorated with rolling turquoise hills, a pale blue path leading to a dark Philly skyline, and a bright red umbrella to protect the city from raining sugar cubes.
5. Get in line and consider your order carefully. The creme brûlée is famous, but the macarons are impeccably crafted. If you’re not sure which mac to order, try the Milk & Honey first. Sweet and subtle, it’s suitable for beginners. The soft pink shell yields to a sticky, almond interior and a rush of buttercream. If you’re feeling classic, go for the Chocolate Ganache or the Tiramisu. Adventurous, go for the Orange Creamsicle or the Tahini Chocolate Raspberry. The latter is an unlikely, but brilliant combination of flavors – nutty, chocolatey, with bright tang from the jam hidden in the slight depression of the buttercream.
6. Watch as they pipe a swirl of vanilla-flecked buttercream onto your macaron halves and let your mouth water when they sandwich the two so that the cream peeks out ever so tauntingly.
7. Admire the neat packaging of your mac. That is, until you rip it open.
8. Bite, chew, swallow.
9. Repeat.
10. Smile.
