I discovered the Don Memo’s food truck through a friend, who had told me about an amazing place where Penn students had originally gone for BYOs before it closed down. After the location closed down, the Don Memo’s food truck on 39th and Spruce was born. I am originally from California, and until Don Memo’s I had struggled to find some authentic Mexican food. As soon as I saw the menu, I knew this was a legitimate Mexican food truck; only they sell Jarritos!

I figured I should stick to the classics; just three tacos and an lime Jarritos. I ordered three Pastor tacos, and was surprised to see that they added freshly sliced pineapple on top of the tacos. I definitely recommend ordering the tacos with their spicy salsa because the kick contrasts with the sweetness of the pineapple.

The pork was very moist and tender, marinated in a very tasty and slightly spicy sauce, and the corn tortillas were just slightly toasted. Personally, I just squeezed some lime juice on top of the tacos to add some freshness; these were definitely the best tacos I had ever had in Philadelphia. The truck is a bit on the pricier side, but it is definitely worth it if you’re looking for a filling and high-quality meal. Overall, if you’re ever near Commons, just stop by Don Memo’s instead!
