My Mom’s Chai
My mom’s chai is such a yummy tea recipe – and especially lovely in the fall (and literally anytime!). Plus it’s only three ingredients: ginger, loose leaf tea, and milk. Drinking a hot cup of chai is a big part of daily life and culture for many Indians, and in my family’s house chai is always offered alongside coffee whenever any guest steps inside.
Note: My mom’s recipe is REALLY simple (but still so good and flavorful) but there are a bunch of other spices that you can add for more flavor – such as crushed cinnamon sticks, cardamom, and peppercorn.

Ingredients
Directions
Boil ~2 cups of water in a medium saucepan.
Slice or grate ~ 1.5 tbsp of fresh ginger.
Add the ginger to the water as well as 2 tbsp of loose-leaf black tea (or 3 teabags).
Bring the heat down a bit and let it cook for 5 more minutes.
Add ~1.5 cups of any kind of milk and let it cook on low for another couple minutes.
Pour the tea out and strain it to get out the ginger chunks and tea leaves!!
Optional: sweeten with honey (or sugar/any sweetener) to taste.
