Thanksgiving is fast approaching, and it’s time for some Thanksgiving-related foodie fun facts.

– 91% of Americans eat turkey on Thanksgiving

-an estimated 48 million turkeys are consumed each Thanksgiving in the US

-the average US household spends ~$49 on Thanksgiving food

-the US makes ~$117 million annually on pumpkin revenue

-the average American consumer 16 pounds of turkey a year

-2.4 billion bounds of sweet potatoes are produced in the US each year

-Mashed potatoes, today a Thanksgiving staple, were not actually part of the first Thanksgiving meal

-Originally, pumpkin pie implied that there was pumpkin in the crust (not the filling!)
