White Dog Cafe’s Brunch Burger

Including entrees created with local, seasonal ingredients and a provincial atmosphere, the White Dog Cafe provided the perfect brunch experience for me and my family.

Brunch BurgerThis past Sunday my family and I dined at the White Dog Cafe on 34th and Sansom. We arrived without a reservation but managed to sit at the bar and receive consistent service.

For my meal I indulged in the most delicious and hearty burger. Yes, I ate a burger for breakfast and I’m currently working off those calories in Pottruck Gym this week; however, the burger tasted and looked too exquisite to pass up. The Brunch Burger consisted of ‘Green Meadow Farms’ half pound burger, Lancaster pork roll, maple aioli, sharp cheddar, brioche bun and a fried egg.

I was initially skeptical of the maple aioli since I’d never tried the sauce before. However, the maple infused condiment did justice. The egg made a great contribution to the breakfast portion of the meal. I wasn’t quite craving breakfast, so the combination of egg and burger had the perfect effect. The textures of each ingredient in the burger added a complementary element. Furthermore, the sharp cheddar contrasted beautifully with the typical American cuisine. The Brunch Burger is the perfect choice to please the palate of both your average Penn student and an epicurean.
