It’s not everyday that I have the opportunity to eat a three-course meal, so when I do, I savor every bite. Not a single forkful of my Friday night dinner at Amada failed to amaze me.

My meal started off with a plate of ensalada verde that was packed with crisp asparagus and green beans and sprinkled with favas and pieces of avocado. The crispiness of the vegetables played nicely with the creaminess of the avocado and the tart slices of cheese really brought the dish’s flavor to life. Next was a hearty cup of white bean and ham stew—a deliciously salty change that primed my taste buds for the rest of the meal.

The main course was brought out with much presentation—two separate plates were carried with the utmost care and proudly set before me. The madre e hijo was a lovely combination of chicken breast and fried egg. I made sure each forkful of the chicken and egg was secure before I ran it through the plate’s glistening pool of truffle oil. And then there was the steak. Two skewers, or brochettes, of hanger steak pulled fresh off the grill. The meat was soft, succulent, and incredibly satisfying.

To finish off the night I ordered the pastel de chocolate, a classic feel-good dessert I don’t think anyone would refuse. The portion was small, but oh so satisfying. As I licked the final drops of homemade caramel sauce from the tongs of my fork I leaned back with contentment, pleased with everything I had eaten. So CHOW NOW at Amada—you won’t be disappointed.
