Foodie Fun Facts: Happy National White Chocolate Day!

In order to kick off the Foodie Fun Facts column, let’s talk about chocolate! You all will soon realize that chocolate is my biggest obsession. In honor of National White Chocolate Day (which was on Sunday, September 22nd), I’d like to inform you all that white chocolate isn’t actually chocolate. Hope I didn’t crush your spirits there. In fact, white chocolate is based on a mixture of cocoa butter and sugar, but it doesn’t have any chocolate liquor. Because it lacks the latter ingredient, it’s technically not a type of chocolate. So next time you eat white chocolate, you can tell your friends you’re not actually eating chocolate! Or you can keep telling yourself that as you eat it.
