Rx the Farmacy: Review

For our BYO dinner this past week, the Penn Appétit Business and Publicity Staff ate at Rx the Farmacy. A successor to both the original Rx and Rimedio, Rx the Farmacy offers brunch and dinner five days a week. The West Philadelphia restaurant has updated its menu for fall and added an assortment of delicious options. The brunch menu consists of Steak n’ Eggs, sweet potato pancakes, banana oatmeal, amaretto french toast, and many more choices. The Farmacy  serves a dinner spread including lobster skins, General Tso’s wings, tie-dyed salmon among other entrees.

For our appetizer. we ordered bread n’ butter and the farm board, which included the chef’s selection of cheeses, cured meats, pickled vegetables, house-made preserves, and stone-ground mustard. The board offered a rustic spin with the appetizing pickled vegetables and the tart mustard.

Next, we each indulged in the following entrees: tie-dyed salmon, lobster skins, and mac n’ cheese with the addition of lobster pieces. The tie-dyed salmon offered a distinctive taste with its conglomeration of brie, pickled onion, and orange slices . The rich and creamy flavor of the mac n’ cheese, along with the buttery lobster pieces, made for a delicious meal. The lobster skins’ savory taste were attributed to ham, bacon, and rich gouda.

Finally, we satiated our palates with creme brûlée and pumpkin cheesecake. Both desserts were enjoyable.

The farm-to-table appeal of Rx the Farmacy adds an interesting twist to both the menu and the atmosphere. The comfort food options were creatively concocted, such as with the mac n’ cheese. I would recommend this restaurant as a great  dinner option.
