The Cravory: Cookies with a Twist

When you think of a cookie, the quintessential chocolate chip cookie may be the one that comes to mind. The Cravory seeks to revamp that experience, with innovative creations ranging from sweet and savory (e.g., Rosemary Balsamic and Pancakes and Bacon) to renditions of beloved flavors (e.g., Red Velvet and Lemon Bar).

The San Diego-based company was co-founded in 2009 by Adam Koven, Nate Ransom, and Derek Jaeger. The three entrepreneurs focused on fulfilling “their dream of creating a cookie company that would allow customers to indulge in a playful luxury that satisfies both the sweet and savory taste buds of cookie lovers, with an edge.” Cookies can be bought in one dozen or 50-cookie boxes; customers can also sign up for a monthly cookie subscription.

Cookies feature a soft, gooey center. Penn Appétit had the opportunity to try six of their novel flavors:

  • Salted Caramel Cream (salted caramel, vanilla chips, and sea salt)
  • Almond Joyous (coconut, toasted almonds, Guittard dark chocolate chunks, sea salt, semisweet chocolate drizzle)
  • Ultimate Chocolate Chip (Guittard semisweet, milk, and dark chocolate chunks, sprinkle of sea salt)
  • Red Velvet (Guittard semisweet and white chocolate chips in red velvet dough)
  • Lemon Bar (lemon zest and juice, vanilla chips, lemon pudding, rolled in powdered sugar in lemon bar dough)
  • Birthday Cake (Guittard vanilla chips and rainbow sprinkles in confetti cake batter)

With midterm season in full swing and finals week approaching quickly, you can start convincing your family and friends that a care package would be just the ticket. If you’re interested in learning more about The Cravory, check them out here.
