“Join the Igloo South of South on March 23rd for the grand opening of Philadelphia’s newest dessert shop! Along with SOSNA’s spring opening of the public fountain at Gray’s Ferry Ave and South Street beginning at noon, Igloo will be introducing themselves to their new neighbors with free samples of all of their frozen desserts. Additionally, festivities will include face painting for children and a raffle drawing for a $100 South Square ThriftWay gift card at 4pm.

The Igloo is an original concept of the owner, Isaac “Zac” Parker and his business partner, Bill Chlebowski, who spent the better part of 2012 looking for the right location for their frozen dessert shop. Zac was especially fond of the location as it’s so close to his alma mater, The University of Pennsylvania. Community enrichment was one of the major focuses of Igloo South of South’s business model. Selling frozen desserts has its perks, but giving back to the community is the most rewarding aspect for this team. “Our business plan includes embracing the neighborhood by sourcing locally purveyed products and contributing percentages of Igloo’s net profits to the South of South Neighborhood Association. The special way in which the area residents embrace each other and local businesses really struck a cord with us. We added “South of South” to our name because we fell so in love with the neighborhood and hope to become an integral part of this amazing community.”
